Meaningful Learning for Curious, Capable Students
Dorado STEM Academy offers rigorous, small-group educational experiences for homeschool students in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Programs are designed for families seeking more than worksheets, demonstrations, or one-time craft activities.
Students work with real tools, materials, systems, and ideas. They build, investigate, test, troubleshoot, create, and explain—developing both practical competence and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Offerings include multiweek STEM pods, seasonal intensives, private homeschool teaching, targeted academic tutoring, and foundational music instruction.
Hands-On STEM Pods
Dorado STEM Academy’s signature pods explore meaningful topics over multiple weeks, giving students time to develop genuine knowledge and skill. Most programs are designed for small groups and are held in a participating family’s home or another parent-provided location in Dorado.
How Things Work: Hands-On Engineering Lab
Ages: 10-14 | 12 Week Program
Students investigate the machines, mechanisms, tools, structures, and systems hidden inside everyday life. Through disassembly, building, experimentation, and troubleshooting, they learn how individual components work together to perform a larger function.
Junior How Things Work
Ages: 5-7 | 12 Week Program
Young learners receive a developmentally appropriate introduction to tools, motion, forces, mechanisms, and engineering.
Each session combines guided investigation with building, testing, observation, and opportunities to explain what students notice.
Advanced How Things Work
Ages: 10-14 | 12 Week Program (Spring Semester Program)
This advanced program will introduce students to circuits, electronics, sensors, Arduino systems, introductory coding, and digital troubleshooting. Students will explore how modern devices receive information, make decisions, and respond to the world around them.
Summer Intensives
Summer programs provide focused, project-based experiences that allow students to explore a subject deeply while creating, experimenting, and developing practical skills.
Gardening and Hydroponics
Ages: 10-14 | 1 Week Program
Students investigate plant biology, growing conditions, nutrient delivery, propagation, and food production through practical gardening and hydroponic projects.

Mural Design and Painting
Ages: 8-14 | 2 Week Program
Students work together to plan and complete a large-scale mural. The process includes concept development, measurement, scaling, surface preparation, color planning, painting techniques, teamwork, and the execution of a finished public-facing work.

Advanced How Things Work
Ages: 10-14 | 2 Week Program (Summer Intensive Version)

Other Programs and Services
Academic Tutoring
Targeted private and small-group tutoring is available in select academic subjects. Instruction is designed for students who are ready to strengthen their understanding, address specific gaps, or pursue more advanced work.
Tutoring sessions are offered in the areas of middle school math, middle school science, high school math and AP Economics
Music Instruction
Beginner Piano, Keyboard, and Guitar
Private and small-group music lessons introduce students to foundational technique, music reading, rhythm, practice habits, and the satisfaction of developing a new skill over time.
Instruction is intended for beginning students and may be offered independently or as part of a broader private homeschool program.
Organize a Private Pod
Many Dorado STEM Academy programs can be arranged for an existing group of homeschool students.
Families may bring together a complete group or begin with a partial group and inquire about filling the remaining spaces. The organizing families provide a suitable home or other approved location in Dorado.
Existing programs may be requested, and custom pods may also be considered within the areas of science, engineering, gardening, hydroponics, emergency medicine, or collaborative mural painting.
